A speeding Mercedes-Benz driver has been arrested for manslaughter for a Queens expressway crash that killed her passenger two years ago, police said Tuesday.
Her victim, 24-year-old Moesha McLaughlin, was the founder of The Gxlden Glow, a line of natural skin care products.
“Moesha was radiant in any room she stepped in,” a GoFundMe that raised $15,000 for her family reads. “You couldn’t help but smile when being around her. She was an intelligent, loving, uplifting, and one of the most selfless individuals I’ve ever known. She touched the lives of so many around the world.”
Driver Makeda McDonald was charged Monday with criminally negligent manslaughter, reckless driving and speeding. The two women lived in the same house in Rosedale.
Police say McDonald, 28, was speeding behind the wheel of her Mercedes-Benz when she slammed into a guardrail on the Cross Island Expressway near the Linden Blvd. exit in Cambria Heights about 3:20 a.m. April 28, 2022.
The force of the impact sent the luxury car into the air, police said. It rolled over several times and struck an overhead light pole. The rear of the car was destroyed, the windshield was smashed and the roof was ripped off.

McLaughlin, sitting in the back, was rushed by medics to Long Island Jewish Valley Stream but could not be saved.
“She accomplished so much in such little time,” the GoFundMe post for McLaughlin reads, “from being a first-generation college graduate at the College of Saint Rose to designing her brand.”
McDonald and a front-seat passenger, a 32-year-old woman, were hospitalized but recovered.
McDonald was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court Monday and released on $60,000 bond. She’s due back in court March 20.
